DateMate Child Safety Standards

Updated: September 16, 2026

These standards are written in three movements: a position is taken first, the measures come next, and reporting and consequences close it out. Parts One to Four form the position — who stands inside the protected circle and what is never allowed; Parts Five to Seven set out the measures — how age verification sets its gate, how content is identified, and what technical support stands behind it; Parts Eight to Ten cover reporting and consequences — the two channels through which leads arrive, what violating accounts will face, and how these standards themselves keep being refined. DateMate is published by DevByDesign, with ShineOn Window Cleaning LLC as the legal entity. Whether you are a member, a parent, a guardian or a regulator, the three movements can be read in sequence.

Part One — Position: child safety is a line that cannot be traded away

Child and minor safety online is something DateMate treats with the utmost seriousness. The duties set by applicable law, and every requirement Google Play lays down on child safety, are observed without exception. This app is positioned as a social matching platform among adults, and only those aged 18 or above may register and use it; minors are excluded from its scope altogether — their visiting the app, creating an account, or using any of its social, chat, matching and interaction functions is expressly prohibited. The size of the audience reached, the form in which content is presented, and the language used are none of them grounds for relaxing what these standards require.

Part Two — Who falls inside the protected circle

Minors occupy the protected position; adult members occupy the constrained one. The requirements run in two different directions. As far as adult members are concerned, none of the following is permitted: entering a false date of birth, or using any other device to slip past age verification; registering on a minor's behalf using an adult's identity details; assisting, encouraging or guiding a minor to open an account and enter the platform; or putting methods, tools or ready-made accounts for circumventing age checks into a minor's hands. Accounts registered abroad are bound by these standards too, and do not gain an exception from where they were created.

Part Three — The zero-tolerance policy on child sexual exploitation and abuse

Toward child sexual exploitation and abuse (CSAE), DateMate applies a zero-tolerance policy. This position admits no exception, and is not waived because the conduct occurred in a private chat, a small group, a limited share or any non-public setting. The platform strictly forbids users from:

Any conduct that breaches these standards, once confirmed, is dealt with immediately; the specific handling measures appear in Part Nine.

Part Four — Leaving no blind spot in the prohibited list

Beyond the direct conduct set out in Part Three, the following workarounds are equally forbidden:

Beyond the direct conduct set out in Part Three, the following workarounds are equally forbidden: (1) using homophones, abbreviations, emoji, spelling variants or a foreign language to dodge keyword screening; (2) breaking content into fragments and uploading it piece by piece, or diverting traffic to an off-platform private channel to keep circulating it; (3) dressing such material up as "awareness raising", "rights advocacy" or "literary writing"; and (4) supplying storage space, relay accounts, payment channels or technical assistance for any of these activities.

However the content may be packaged, the test is always its actual effect on minors — never the wrapper it wears.

Part Five — Measure one: age verification and account admission

Age verification is our frontmost gate, and the following actions are used continuously to keep it effective:

  1. Date of birth is a required field at registration, so any application below the age of 18 fails validation;
  2. Where profile details and account behaviour visibly contradict each other, manual review is triggered automatically;
  3. For accounts confirmed to be used by a minor, access is restricted, the account is closed, and re-registration with the same details is refused;
  4. The strength of validation at the three entry points — registration, password recovery and profile editing — is re-examined with each version release.

Verification is not a one-off event. Where a surviving account shows behavioural traits plainly at odds with its declared age, it re-enters the verification process.

Part Six — Measure two: content identification and risk patrols

Technical tools and manual review are combined to keep continuous oversight of platform content and member behaviour:

  1. Images, text and avatar material uploaded by users are screened by machine-learning classification for suspected violations;
  2. Bulk registration and ban-evasion are identified by combining IMEI / MEID and MAC addresses, Android ID, device manufacturer information and the number of accounts tied to a single device;
  3. Suspicious accounts are flagged by analysing session duration, distribution of activity across the day, ranked feature-use frequency and interaction frequency;
  4. Content suspected to be risky is restricted from display first, before moving into review and handling.

Anything touching child safety is dispatched first and reviewed first, and the progress of handling can be fed back to the person who reported it.

Part Seven — Measure three: third-party safety technology and ongoing refinement

To strengthen its safety capability, this app integrates third-party services such as Cloudflare (content delivery and security protection), Datadog (performance and stability monitoring) and Amplitude (product and behavioural analytics). All partners must comply with applicable data protection requirements and handle data only to the extent their own services require. Changes in law and regulation, updates to Google Play platform policy and shifts in industry safety standards are all tracked continuously, and age verification, content identification and reporting procedures are refined accordingly.

Part Eight — Reporting: two parallel channels of equal force

Once an account suspected of being held by a minor, content involving harm to children, or harassment and inducement aimed at minors comes to light, submit the lead through either channel below. The two carry exactly the same force and may be used at the same time:

Once a lead arrives, it is reviewed promptly and necessary measures are taken according to the circumstances. Leads submitted by parents or guardians are verified for the guardianship relationship first and handled on a priority basis.

Part Nine — After a violation: the penalty ladder and cooperation with law enforcement

The severity of the handling is matched to the severity of the conduct. A violating account may face the following:

  1. Violating content is taken down and purged, with the channel for uploading it again simultaneously blocked;
  2. The account's usable features are tightened, and in more serious cases sign-in and access are suspended;
  3. The account is permanently banned and service eligibility ends along with it;
  4. Records of the enforcement action and necessary evidence are retained for later verification;
  5. Where a criminal offence is suspected, the necessary information is submitted to law enforcement in accordance with the law and the investigation is supported.

Any report touching on minors is handled ahead of ordinary violation leads. Once handling is complete, the reporter may ask us for the outcome; where confidentiality duties or investigative needs prevent disclosure of detail, we will explain why. If a lead points to danger to a person happening in the real world, we will suggest, alongside our lawful cooperation, that the reporter also contact the local police or a child protection agency.

Part Ten — Handling information about minors, and how to reach us

With minors kept outside the door, children's personal information does not fall within what we actively collect. If a falsely entered detail, a fraudulent registration or some other circumstance we failed to anticipate has nevertheless brought such information into our systems, it will be deleted once confirmed, the account concerned will be restricted from further use of the app, and we will sweep for similar risks so the situation does not recur. The handling of this information also follows the requirements of the DateMate Privacy Policy.
