Rather than bury the answers inside a long document and leave you to dig them out, we would rather set the nine questions we hear most often right out on the table. Q1 through Q9 below are drawn from real messages that arrived in our support inbox, and the reply to each one sits directly beneath it. DateMate is published by DevByDesign, with ShineOn Window Cleaning LLC acting as the legal entity. Read straight through, or pick out only the questions that matter to you.

One premise runs through everything that follows, and it deserves to come first: this app is open to adults only. So we say it without hedging — this app is not intended for minors, and anyone under the age of 18 falls outside its scope.

Q1 — What information do you gather about me?

Collection is squeezed into the minimum needed to keep the features working; anything unrelated to a feature is something we will not ask for. There are exactly four entry points.

Account information — handed to us by you directly

While registering, signing in and filling out your profile, the following items are recorded:

• Your email address, serving as the account's sole identity credential;
• Nickname, avatar and gender;
• Date of birth, used to verify that you are an adult;
• Region, used to calculate distance and define the matching radius;
• Anything else you choose to add or edit later.

Remove any one of these and the account may fail to come into existence, or other members will struggle to recognise you.

Device information — environmental data reported automatically

So that the app renders correctly across phone models and so that crashes can be traced quickly to their cause, the following data is reported automatically:

• Device identifiers such as IMEI / MEID, together with the MAC address;
• Android ID and the device manufacturer's name;
• Screen resolution and pixel density;
• Battery level and charging state;
• System language and locale settings.

Usage information — the trail your actions leave behind

Nearly every action you take in the app may leave a record, and those records are used to reconstruct problems, refine the product and keep the community in order:

• How long a single session lasts, and how your activity is spread across the day;
• The ranked frequency with which each feature is used;
• Browsing history, such as the profile cards you have viewed;
• Interaction frequency, counted through likes, saves and messages sent.

Payment information — only the necessary receipt comes back to us

When membership benefits are purchased, charging and settlement are handled independently by the official Google Play Billing channel. All that reaches our systems is the essential receipt data — order number, transaction status and the item purchased. Card numbers, payment passwords and payment verification codes never enter our databases and could not be stored there in any case.

Q2 — Why do you need this information?

We do not tip information into a pool that anyone can dip into at will. Every purpose is stated in advance, and there are five of them:

• To keep the features running — registration, sign-in, profile display, matchmaking recommendations and instant messaging all depend on this one to function at all;
• To drive service improvement — where things stall and where users drop off can only be seen through behavioural records and fault logs, and release planning is built on what they reveal;
• To build security defences — fraud, spam, bulk registration and account theft are detected and blocked under this heading, which is how account safety and community order are upheld;
• To carry customer support — the enquiries, complaints and appeals you send us are borne by this one, with report tickets and fault feedback following the same track;
• To meet legal obligations — duties set by applicable law and by regulators are discharged here, and lawful investigations are assisted on the same basis.

Should we ever need to put your information to a new use beyond those five, we will seek your consent separately beforehand.

Q3 — Will my information be handed over to third parties?

Selling, renting out or otherwise trading your personal information has never been our practice. To keep the features operational, this app integrates third-party SDKs / services, among them Amplitude (product and behavioural analytics), Unity Ads (rewarded video advertising), Airship (push messaging), Datadog (performance and stability monitoring) and Cloudflare (content delivery and security protection). Advertising, analytics and push messaging — these three categories of processing — are all carried out through those third-party SDKs / services. Each partner handles information only to the extent its own function requires, and is bound by its own privacy policy.

Your personal information will not be disclosed by us except in the following situations:

1. You have given separate consent or explicit authorisation for that particular sharing;
2. Where necessary functions such as payment, push messaging and analytics must be delivered, information within the minimum necessary scope is passed to an entrusted partner, which must assume equivalent confidentiality duties;
3. A judicial body, a regulator or applicable law issues a mandatory disclosure requirement;
4. Sharing is genuinely necessary to protect members' personal safety, platform security or a substantial public interest;
5. In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganisation or transfer of assets, information moves with the relevant business, and the recipient must continue to apply protection standards no lower than those in this policy.

Q4 — How long is my information kept?

Retention follows a single rule: no longer than the period necessary to achieve the service purpose. Once that period expires, or once continued retention is no longer required by law, the relevant data is deleted, anonymised or de-identified. One point deserves separate mention: the law prescribes longer retention terms for certain categories of data. Those categories are held for the statutory period and are likewise purged or anonymised once it ends.

Q5 — What rights do I hold over my information?

Full control over your information remains with you. Through the in-app settings entry or the support mailbox, all five of the following rights may be exercised in accordance with the law:

1. Access — your account profile and the processing records linked to it can be retrieved and checked at any time;
2. Correction — where a record is inaccurate or incomplete, you may ask us to correct, supplement or refresh it;
3. Erasure — you may ask us to wipe your personal information, or start closure through the in-app entry or the Account Deletion page;
4. Withdrawal of consent — any consent you gave for a particular processing activity can be pulled back whenever you wish; pulling it back does not reach back into processing already carried out;
5. Obtaining a copy — a copy of your personal information in a structured format will be provided at your request.

Beyond those five, questions, objections and complaints concerning how personal information is processed are equally welcome. Once identity verification is complete, we will respond within a reasonable period.

Q6 — May minors use DateMate?

No. DateMate is a social platform for adults, and minors fall outside its scope. The age threshold sits at the registration step, where date of birth is a required field, so any application below the age of 18 fails validation.

This app is not intended for minors, and we do not knowingly collect children's personal information. Should personal information belonging to a minor nevertheless land in our systems — through a falsely entered age, a fraudulent registration or some other circumstance we failed to anticipate — the information will be deleted once confirmed, and the account concerned will be restricted from further use of the app. The complete arrangements for child safety can be found in the DateMate Child Safety Standards.

Q7 — How do you keep my information secure?

Security is broken into four interlocking checkpoints, none of which is left to carry the burden alone:

• In transit: TLS/SSL encryption is enabled end to end, leaving very little room for information to be intercepted or quietly rewritten along the way;
• At rest: sensitive fields are stored under AES-256 encryption, with keys held separately rather than mixed in alongside the business data;
• At the moment of access: permissions are divided by role (RBAC), and the data each staff member can reach is compressed to the minimum set their own work requires;
• At audit: every read generates a log entry, logs are sampled on a regular schedule, and anomalous access raises an alert immediately.

Three further safeguards sit behind those four checkpoints: security assessments and penetration tests are run at least once each per year; personal information protection training is held for all staff on a recurring basis; and a dedicated contingency plan stands ready for data security incidents, so that when something goes wrong, containment, damage control and reporting can be completed quickly.

Q8 — Will this policy change?

It will. When product features shift, when the service model changes, or when laws, regulations and regulatory expectations move on, this policy is revised accordingly. The new version is published in the in-app notice area or on the official website, and the date at the top is refreshed at the same time.

Should a revision touch on rights that matter to you, we will tell you before it takes effect, through a pop-up, an in-app notification or another sufficiently prominent means; where genuinely necessary, your consent will be sought again.
